Explore an entire city on a tabletop, view new buildings in their surroundings, and discover the four historic city gates through play: EchoCity combines Neubrandenburg’s digital twin with interactive 3D visualization. Tilt Five brings the city model into three-dimensional space – as a tool for urban planning and as the foundation for a trade show and kiosk experience.

See the City from New Perspectives

Together with the City of Neubrandenburg, our Holographic team has developed a digital twin of the city. The application presents the urban area as a three-dimensional model and allows users to explore it freely.

With the Tilt Five augmented reality system, the model appears in 3D on the tabletop. Streets, buildings, and their spatial relationships can be viewed from different angles. This creates a visual foundation for discussing the city and its development together.

New Buildings in the Existing Cityscape

How might a new building fit into its surroundings? EchoCity allows users to place additional 3D building models on the city map and view them in the context of the existing built environment.

Ideas for future construction projects can therefore be visualized directly within the city model. Scale and spatial relationships become visible and can be discussed together. The combination of 3D navigation and the placement of additional models helps users explore potential changes to the cityscape visually.

Four Gates, One Ball, and the Race for the Fastest Time

A standalone game application for trade show booths and kiosk systems demonstrates how EchoCity’s technical foundation can also be used at events.

The challenge: Roll a ball through all four historic city gates of Neubrandenburg – as quickly as possible. After passing through all four gates, the completion time determines the player’s position on the leaderboard. Who can complete the fastest run?

The game invites visitors to take part and get to know the digital twin through play. Familiar landmarks become part of a test of skill, while the leaderboard encourages players to try again and compete with one another.

One Technical Foundation for Different Applications

EchoCity demonstrates the versatility of a digital city twin. The urban planning application provides space for exploration and the visualization of new buildings. The game application built on it offers an interactive experience for events.

Both applications use the same codebase, with interactions tailored to their respective purposes. A digital city model thus becomes the foundation for different experiences – from professional assessment to playful discovery.
